Why it's vital to review business progress
It’s easy to get lost in simply doing what you need to do every day to keep your company running, but the best thing you can do for your business is to focus on the long term, where you want to go, and how you’re going to get there. But before you can do any of that, you need to know where you are now.
In our audits, we’ll do a thorough review of business progress to date, including looking at if the business is still heading in the right direction, what might be done to streamline the business, if there is an up to date business plan, and how the business is marketed and whether it is taking advantage of opportunities.
Assess core activities
Our first starting point is to look at what services and products are offered – what the business does to actually make money. We’ll review how successful they are, what makes them so, and how improvements might be made. We’ll also discuss whether there are complementary services or products that might enhance the offering.
Assess business efficiency
There are many factors which affect business efficiency, from overall strategy to the premises, and we’ll take the time to do a thorough review.
• We’ll look at staff, what skills and abilities they bring to the business, and what staff turnover is like. If turnover is high, we’ll look at potential causes for that and look for solutions.
• Our team will inspect both premises and location, and look at the advantages and disadvantages of each. We’ll study whether there is currently the room needed to expand or if there is the need to trim excess space. We’ll also look at the impact of the current premises on long-term goals.
• We’ll examine onsite facilities, from the IT infrastructure and support, to any machinery used in manufacturing.
Review the financial position
At Fullbrook, we’ll conduct a full audit on the financial health of the business, looking at the current position, financial management and planning. We’ll also do a deep dive into working capital, borrowing, growth, cash flow and costs.
Conduct a competitor analysis
Knowing who the main competitors are is vital for any business, and we’ll thoroughly study competitor’s strengths and weaknesses, looking into what they offer that is in direct competition and what is not. We’ll review pricing, their customer base and how they market themselves.
Using the review to redefine business goals
Once the audit is complete, we’ll present the results and our recommendations, starting with where the business is now, with any problems and our solutions.
